The day was 5th September, when we the students got an opportunity to show our love and concern towards our teachers. Teachers’ Day is celebrated in India in honour of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a teacher par excellence and also the proud recipient of the Bharat Ratna in the year 1964.

We celebrated Teachers’ Day by showcasing our talents in various ways. Preparation for the programme started with students enrolling themselves for various events. It was our common aim to make our teachers feel blissful and bring a beautiful smile on their faces. The practice sessions began two weeks prior to the Teachers’ Day. Students put in their heart and soul and worked very hard during the practice sessions. The day finally came when we had to put up our performance.

The programme started and everything was going in a clockwise order. The teachers were having a lovely time. Event by event the performances were going on and the students were doing their best on the stage. Then it was my turn to deliver a speech on Teachers’ Day. I must say I was nervous and scared. I went up on to the stage; I paused for a moment, took a deep breath and looked around. Amidst a frenzied atmosphere with the students around me, their faces lit up with excitement, I went up to the stage with confidence and delivered my speech. Guess what? It went on very well and my
teachers loved it. The sigh of relief that I then had was indescribable. After this, the other events which were performed left my teachers mesmerized. And finally the day ended with my teachers feeling very happy and satisfied with the celebrations.
